Project description:
a. Size and scope
The Health Science Center was a necessary addition to the San Jacinto College Central Campus. The final location of the facility created a new academic corridor that expanded into the original core of the campus to new acreage on the east side. The 70,000 s.f., two-story building includes classrooms and offices for faculty and administration.
The various departments of the medical teaching facility include:
Radiology - 3 functioning labs each with x-ray and one master dark room
Nursing - 10 fully equipped bed stations
Respiratory - 18 ventilator teaching stations
ICU - 3 separate rooms with full equipment
EMT - 3 laboratory areas/exam rooms
Trauma - contains 2 exam stations
Surgical Technology - includes 4 procedure rooms with operating instruments, including scrub stations
b. Firm’s role in project:
Bay performed master planning services, design, and construction management services for the project.
C. Key firm strengths exhibited by project and relevant to work on the UH Project
After determining the spatial requirements of the building, Bay worked in cooperation with the College Administration and Health Science Division Building Committee, the Conceptual Design and Design Development phases created a design that responded to the college’s educational needs and growing health science programs.
