San Jacinto College Slocomb Auditorium
Client: San Jacinto College
Construction Cost: $750,000
Services: Planning, Design, Construction Administration
Located at San Jacintos' main campus, Slocomb Auditorium provides a "gateway" to the college and was intended to be a gathering place for the community. Programming was performed with community members, the Fine Arts Department and the College Administration to develop a renovation program for the 1,003 seat facility. The renovation included the redesign of the stage and replacement of the seating and lighting systems.
The addition of a new lobby, which included a ticket booth, control room, storage, and restrooms, was constructed with ADA considerations and incorporates a closed-circuit TV system for viewing and announcements. The new entry portico, which is attached to the outside commons area, provides an additional outside waiting area and auto/bus drop off.
