This multi-use facility is utilized by the City of Texas City and the Texas City Independent School District's swim team. By sharing the cost of the facility, the City and the School District provide a facility beyond what either entity could have provided on its own. The School District's new high school will be placed on the same block. The rooftop of the Lowry Fitness Center and Texas City Natatorium features photovoltaic solar panels that augment the energy needs of the facility. Tilt-wall construction was selected on this project due to the availability of local materials and for the reductions it allowed in the structural systems.
Renovated area: 23,893 s.f. Existing pool, gym, fitness area, locker rooms. New gym, natatorium, cardio addition to fitness area.
