Bay Architects was commissioned in 2005 to provide a needs assessment study for the existing City of Katy Police Station. The study evaluated the functionality of the 11,000 s.f. police station, while also addressing future expansion options.
The new City of Katy Police Station, which will house elements such as an emergency command center, jail, evidence storage and 911 center, was designed using the most advanced technology systems available. A closed-circuit monitoring system ensures proper security of inmates and staff, while the floor plan was developed to include a control center which effectively separates the public from secure areas such as inmate housing and evidence storage. Other key elements include a communications area for patrol and dispatch, a jail and booking area with restricted access for juvenile detention, a training room and a drive-through sally port.
