The campus design of Richey Elementary is programmed to house an optimum capacity of 800 students. The design concept is five fold. The library is located in the center of the facility for equidistant access from the classrooms and a view to the outdoor teaching area. The administrative area is located at the front of the school to control site entrance. The noisy spaces (P.E., cafeteria, stage and music) are located to one side of the building. The classrooms are grouped in a pod design with a separate commons space for K-4th grades. Pre-kindergarten classes are located next to one another while the special education classes are dispersed throughout the building.
