Mr. Powitzky began his career as a designer with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in San Francisco, California. While there, he entered the United Nations Conference Design Competition in Vienna, Austria and was awarded 5th place out of 450 entries.
In 1976 Mr. Powitzky opened his own architectural firm and in 1981 he founded PBK Architects of Houston, a firm that focused on educational architecture. In 1995 Mr. Powitzky and Mark French founded Bay Architects, a service-oriented design firm specializing in educational and institutional architecture.
During his 30 years of experience Mr. Powitzky has designed a multitude of educational, commercial and religious projects throughout Texas and Louisiana. Many of his projects have been honored with design awards and have been published in leading architectural magazines and journals.
